Aztecs Compete Well at Bill Kearney Invite!

Recap provided by Head Coach Jeremy Hoeflinger:

This past Saturday our Varsity boys and girls took to the track at the Bill Kearney Invitational at Hartnell College. This was, yet again, another successful day for our athletes. Our girl’s team placed 3rd in the team competition, which is impressive considering we only took 8 athletes in total. Individually our girls had a good meet as well. Belen Flores set a new personal best in the 100 meters running a 14.35. Emily Tinajero also set a new PR in the 200 meters with a time of 30.60. Lastly, Danyelle Landeros finished 1 st in the 800 meters, winning by almost 5 seconds, setting a season record in the process running a 2:26.91. She also placed 3 rd in the 400 meters with a time of 61.20 setting a ne PR in the process. Our guys also had a good meet on Saturday. While they placed places 7 th overall there were a lot of great individual performances. John Mendoza and Salvador Meza both set new personal bests in the 200, John running a 25.00 second and Salvador running a 26.53. Jesus Rodriguez placed 2 nd overall in the 400 meters setting a new personal best time of 51.28. Luis Alba set 2 PRs in the 1600 meters and 3200 meters running a 4:57.52 in the 1-mile and 11:38.18 in the 2-mile. Lastly, Carlos Espinoza, one of the only freshman athletes to compete for us at the varsity level crushed it on the track on Saturday. He set two new PRs destroying his previous best time; Carlos ran a 4:48.35 in the 1600 meters and placed 5 th overall in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:35.16. That 2-mile time also makes him the 4 th fasted ever 3200 meter runner in Soledad school history. For a full list of results click on the link below.
