Soledad Cruises by Prospect in CCS DII 1st Round

Your Aztecs Baseball team earned and fought for their #1 ranking in the CCS Division II Tournament this year. There... that said, they earned a hosting game vs the #16 Prospect Panthers. 

At first, the teams were looking pretty matched up through two and a half innings keeping each batter at bay and not much connection. At the bottom of the 3rd, Soledad gets a couple of players on the bases when Anthony Ramirez connects and has the Panthers scrambling while Soledad breaks the ice and scores 2. 

Moving forward into the 4th inning, Soledad held Prospect at bay and then were up again. This is where Soledad looked like... Soledad. Again, a couple of batters on the base and Isaac Lopez chips one over the infield and two more runs in (4-0). Christopher Villarreal connects and sends it deep to get Isaac in for another score (5-0). Anthony Ramirez slams a pitch out there for a triple and another RBI (6-0). The Aztecs weren't done there when Joseph Calderon stepped into his swing and got in another RBI (7-0). Finally Joey Barroso clips the ball just over left infield and earns the Aztecs their last run in of the inning (8-0). 

Once again, the Aztecs held Prospect scoreless going through the top of the 5th inning and the Aztecs were in prime position for a quick 10-run-rule if they knock out 2 more runs. The Panthers walk Aaron Rodriguez and Ben Pajas gets a base hit. With two possible runs in the field, Isaac Lopez knocks one high and the second the ball is caught for the sacrifice fly, our batters tag up and head home. The Panther's attempts to stop the play ended with a couple of fumbles giving the Aztecs their 10th run in and ending the game!

Your Aztecs will be back in action when they head to neutral site, Hartnell College, on Saturday for a 2:00 game vs the #8 ranked Saratoga Falcons for the CCS Division II Quarterfinals!
