Track and Field Update


Season has gone into fultime mode and two major meets are in the books, Here are the recaps provided by Head Coach Jeremy Hoeflinger:


Wildcat Relay at Watsonville HS - 3/10/18


Soledad Track and Field opened the season with a strong performance in the rain at
the Wildcat Relays at Watsonville high school this past Saturday. They competed
against mostly MBAL schools, which brought tough competition. Nevertheless each
athlete brought their best and represented their school and team proudly. Overall
our girl’s team fared the best placing 8th out of 19 teams and our Frosh/Soph boys
team placed 11 th our the 17 teams. There were also a few notable performances by
Denise Virgen, Gyrallene DeGracia, and Noora Hautamaki who placed 3 rd in the Team
Triple Jump competition, where Noora also had the second furthest jump of the day
with a distance of 35’10.75. She also had the furthest long jump of the day winning
with a distance of 17’4”. Another standout performance was from, freshman,
Alondra Alonso who was Soledad’s top female thrower in both shot put and discus
throwing an impressive 23’1” in shot put and 57’6” in discus. Our next meet is this
coming Thursday (3/15) at King City for the South County Time Trials. For a full list

Valley Time Trials at King City – 3/15/18


Soledad Track and Field took to the track at King City High School this past
Thursday to compete in the Valley Time Trials. The team, both guys and girls, is
looking good as we progress through the early part of the season. Everyone who
competed brought their A game and set some very strong early marks to start the
year. Some of our teams best performances of the nigh were from Jesus Rodriguez
ran a 52.45 in the 400 meters setting a new school record for Soledad taking first
overall in the process. He also won the men’s 800 meters with a time of 2:09.95.
Belen Flores ran a strong race in the girls 300 Hurdles with a time of 57.59. Denise
Virgen set a new personal best in the Triple Jump with a distance of 29’2”. Ulises
Camarena also won both the 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles. And Jacob Torculas, who
Pole Vaulted for the first time Thursday night, cleared 8’6”. For a full list of results
